From the Constitution of the GPOA

 

We, the Law Enforcement Officers and civilian members of the Gladstone Police Department, who are members of the Fraternal Order of Police, do hereby pledge ourselves to the use of all honorable means to: promote professionalism and fraternalism among our members; promote and foster the impartial enforcement of law and order; encourage sociable, charitable, and educational activities among Gladstone Police Officers; promote a professional relationship between Gladstone Police Officers and the governing authorities of the City of Gladstone; provide benefit and assistance to our members; and promote a healthy relationship between the community we serve and our membership. Further, we hereby unite under the name of Gladstone Police Officers Association

We affirm that membership in this organization is not in any way contingent upon race, sex, color, creed, age religion, ancestry, national origin, physical challenges or disability. All terms used in this Constitution and the By- Laws of this association that denote gender shall be generic and, where appropriate, the singular shall include the plural and the plural shall include the singular.

 

From the By-Laws of the GPOA

 

Article I

Name

Section 1. This organization shall be known as the Gladstone Police Officers Association

Section 2. The Gladstone Police Officers Association, as a subordinate chapter of the West Central Missouri Regional Lodge #50, Fraternal Order of Police, shall strive to conform to all of the rules and regulations of that lodge and the superior organizations.

Article II

Association Purposes

Section 1. This organization is formed for the purpose of enhancing the existing conditions of police by promoting mutual welfare through the affiliation with the Fraternal Order of Police and for advancing social, benevolent, charitable, and educational events of and among Law Enforcement officers and employees.

Section 2. It shall be the duty of this organization to promote the interests of the Law Enforcement officers and civilian employees of the Gladstone Police Department by active participation in the West Central Missouri Regional Lodge #50, Fraternal Order of Police; strive to promote professional law enforcement and to encourage greater public support of police officers in the performance of their duties.

Section 3. This organization shall endeavor to provide its members with professional, educational, and social benefits of a relevant nature whenever it is able to do so and strive to adopt community service programs to improve the relationship between law enforcement and the community.
